Holly & Sam: Vibrant Fall Wedding at Lake Lawn Resort

It was a crisp autumn day, bright blue skies and gorgeous fall colors. Holly was tucked away in a suite at the resort getting her make up done and finishing up her hair. We were welcomed with open arms immediately from the mother of the groom. She was so relaxed and gave the very best hugs, asking if we needed a snack or beverage. She had the coolest “boy mom” energy and I instantly wanted to be just like her. She made sure the guys were exactly where they needed to be, and we loved her for that!

Holly is the type of person who will go out of her way to help everyone around her. This was just as true on her wedding day as an other ordinary day. She was helping her nephew secure his tie, making sure her nieces had their stuffed animals and always made sure that everyone around her had what they needed. She was always up for anything and trusted our expertise throughout the day.

I first met Holly back in 2014 when we were both working at Menards in neighboring departments, so when she first reached out to us, we were so excited! She made sure that we were available to photograph her wedding before she had even booked her venue! I followed along for the months leading up to the Moore wedding and adored how giddy Holly was the entire time. She shared so many special moments and celebrations and countdowns along the way and it was so fun to witness.

When Sam and Holly’s wedding day was finally here, we knew it was going to be an incredible celebration full of love, color and details galore. If there is one thing they were good at, it was having full trust in their wedding vendors. Remington’s Flowers created a colorful dream for their wedding. So many vibrant florals, and interesting textures! The statement they made was unbelievable!!

Sam loves Holly so well. He’s such a gentleman and has so much charm. So, when Holly set him up with a dinosaur for their first look, you know was going to take it so well! When he turned around and saw the inflatable costume, he was rolling! When it was Holly’s turn for their first look, you could see the little nerves set in, but then completely fade away when he turned to see his bride.

From their friend who performed the ceremony, to the fire axe they used to cut their cake, to the fishing themed cut out cookies, to the Harry Potter quote on her shoes, to the subtle touch of baseball, these two truly made their wedding day unique to them and full of personality.

One of my favorite moments was when Holly and Sam surprised Sam’s parents during the reception. When Sam’s parents were married they were not able to use a specific song for their first dance. So Sam and Holly wanted to make sure they had the chance to dance to that very song they wished they could have used all those years ago. Sam’s parents had a very special moment on the dance floor before the newlyweds even took to the floor themselves. It was so sweet to witness!

Sam and Holly, you two threw an amazing, very well planned party that we left with our hearts feeling so full. We can’t wait to follow along as you continue your lives together! Cheers to the Moores!
