Lindsay and Kevin had the most lovely sunny October day for their wedding at Historic Courthouse 1893 in downtown Waukesha. You never know what you’re going to get in Wisconsin in October, but the forecast was very kind to these two. As we write this blog looking back on Lindsay & Kevin’s best day ever, we’re smiling from ear to ear remembering how perfect the day truly was.

The Perfect Start to their Wedding Day

We spent the morning at Lindsay’s childhood home with her bridesmaids, mom, and mother-in-law (who did her hair!)! There’s always something special about when a bride starts her wedding day in the home where she grew up. We couldn’t help but notice the family photos decorating the walls and other special decor marking important dates in their lives. The memories made in that home were almost tangible to us. Another reason the morning was so special to us was that we had an opportunity to chat with the bridesmaids and learn about how they all knew Lindsay. Lindsay and her besties sipped mimosas, slipped into their dresses and watched as Lindsay put on her wedding dress while her mom zipped her up.

A Strong Faith

Once we arrived at the church, Lindsay and Kevin shared 5 minutes alone after their first look. I truly LOVE when couples carve out a few moments just for them to be present and reflect with one another on what the day will bring. It’s such a special way to begin the wedding day, and it’s SO clear how it helps a couple to center themselves and start the party with some of their nerves washed away. Not only that, but these two share a very strong faith, and it’s evident how strong of a role God plays in their relationship.

In fact, three years before dating, Lindsay and Kevin actually met leading confirmation retreats for their church. Because of how they met, they’ve been able to navigate their faith together, and grow stronger together on their journey closer to Christ. They joke about how they sort of did the typical dating process backwards: having met on retreats, they had a lot of deep conversations very early, learning who each other really is very quickly. It wasn’t until later that they started to find out the little things about each other, like how they both love the TV show “Friends”. This show would later add a personal touch to their wedding day 🙂

The Special Little Details

We could gush infinitely about all the amazing little (and big) details that made this wedding day THEIR day, but here’s just a few things that stick out to us most! First off, we walked out of the beautiful St. Gabriel Catholic Church to see the coolest getaway car. We know nothing about cars, so we’ll keep it simple and just say that Lindsay’s grandpa has an amazing vintage black car that’s basically THE picture perfect getaway vehicle. Next, in between the ceremony and reception, the wedding party stopped for drinks at a beer garden! Lindsay and Kevin shared with us how they enjoy visiting new breweries when they get the chance, so this was the perfect way to start the party!  Last but certainly not least, the newly married couple moved the crowd when they started their choreographed first dance to a beautiful slow version of the “Friends” theme song. We couldn’t believe that ironically, they never actually watch the show together!

A Sweet End to Our 2021 Wedding Season at Historic Courthouse 1893

We honestly couldn’t think of a better way to end our season of 2021 weddings, and this one had just the sweetest ending thanks to the amazing venue and the cutest couple. We arrived at the Historic Courthouse 1893 – an incredible historic Waukesha, WI venue in its own right – to the most amazing sunset! Y’all already know how much photographers love their sunsets, so we’ll let those photos speak for themselves. The venue was decorated with the most gorgeous gold details, and beautiful florals from Bank of Flowers. The DJ had the dance floor going all night, and when it was time for us to pack up and leave, Lindsay and Kevin were so sweet and offered the absolute most kind words that made our hearts burst. Thank you to the new Mr. and Mrs. Kolter, for helping us end our wedding season on such a high note!
